Osteoporosis Screening & Management

Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue & loss of bone density over time. Calcium and phosphate are two minerals that are essential for normal bone formation. Throughout youth, your body uses these materials to produce bones. If you do not get enough calcium, or if your body does not absorb enough calcium from your diet, bone production and bone tissues may suffer.

Usually the loss occurs gradually over years. There are no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. Bone mineral density testing (DEXA scan) measures how much bone you have. You can have your DEXA scan right in the comfort of our office.

If your scan shows any decrease in bone density your provider can talk to you about supplements or vitamins you can take as well as a proper diet and exercise to improve your bone density.
